So I'm starting a new thread dedicated to chronicling the process of customizing a BTAS Batmobile.
I wanted this to be a new thread that focuses specifically on this project and show from start to finish the progression of this project and everything that went into it.
A great man once said "To create you must destroy" and now is the part I like best, the destroying!
First off I had to come up with an idea of what it was I was hoping to accomplish with this project. Was this going to be a simple repaint or something a bit more complicated. So my main objective here is to make this as close as possible to the Batmobile you see in the show. Remove any details that aren't present in the show or that detract from the overall look of the piece being as clean and streamlined as possible. Seems kinda hard being that this is an already streamlined design, but there are a lot of things upon closer inspection that can and will be changed along the way.
So here we have the wheels and the hubs. The hubs are the first thing I decided to change and will be completely remade when all is said and done. AND, they will be made available in the store for purchase as a repro-kit upgrade once finished.
This is what I'm going for as the final look removing the bat logo and the silly blade things completely. It will be a smooth center piece just like in the drawings below.
Next up will be the body. I'm ditching the Batplane insert to make room for a completely new cockpit and all the lines on the body will be filled and smoothed to give the body as clean a look as possible. In the image below you can see the original production art there aren't any panel lines for engines opening or gas tank holes or anything like that so all those details will be removed.
While its not possible to make the interior just like the show with two seats, I plan on opening up the cockpit area and creating as much of the inside as possible with the space allotted.
And finally the rear end turbine. I plan on smoothing and building this section out to make it as close to the show as possible. I am going to look into a light rig not only for the headlights but also the tail lights and turbine. I'm even looking into using an arduino sound board that will play the shows theme when you press a button on the bottom of the car.
The plan is in motion, the car has been torn down and preparations are being made. There is more to this project but some things are still in the planning stages and will be revealed as it moves forward. I would say tune in next week, same Batmobile time, same Batmobile channel, but I have no idea when the next installment of building a better Batmobile will be posted. Til then stay rad everyone!
