Well, saw it Thursday night. I was very concerned that somehow it wouldn't live up to the hype. That it wouldn't deliver.
Boy, were my concerns misplaced. If you don't want to see it right away, that's okay. But I urge you to go see it. It is just fantastic. It's not a perfect movie by any means, but it's so well executed I just didn't care.
I can't give a better endorsement of the movie than the one from my wife. She could normally care less. She barely knows the difference between Star Wars and Star Trek. She only went because we wound up with an extra ticket and wanted to hang out with the other 16 who went lol. She loved it. Actually wants to see it again. That right there should be all the motivation you need.
I can see way Lucas was upset, they just flushed away years of work to keep everything connected in books, cartoons, comics and went with there own version creating the Lucas Star Wars universe and the Disney Star Wars Universe.

Saw it last week and I loved it. Overall the movie is great and it has reaffirmed my love of STAR WARS, but there have been some interesting discussions about how Rey is a Mary Sue and after having another look, she kinda is. Its not a deal breaker and doesn't screw the movie up to the point of making it a hard pill to swallow, but in retrospect it does seem...too easy.
Rey never has to work for anything and all the positive stuff about her just happens without any sacrifice or effort and that feels kinda hollow...unless its a setup for something else in the next movie, which it very well could be.
Overall I found the movie fairly stunning as it used visual and auditory ques very well and setup some amazing moments if you were paying attention and noticed what was going on in the "body language" of the movie.
I had always said the prequels weren't completely awful, because there were some fun parts scattered around amongst them, but having seen Force Awakens has made me realize what an absolute cinematic atrocity they are. In light of how great Force Awakens IS, it makes the prequels seem abysmal on a whole new level, and just shows how terrible a director Lucas is.
