Im speculating but Im almost sure they had season 3 under production but when the plans came down the pike they were trying to do the whole DC movie universe thing they put on hold what they were working on to move onto other things to promote the movies and not to contradict what was going on in that timeline.

Something similar happened when they canned GIJOE RENEGADES something similar happened because they were so sure the movie with the Rock in it was gonna explode so they made room for a different animated series which never ended up happening even thought theyd already begun work on the next season or possibly even had it done.

Im just speculating but Ive read bits and pieces from artists who worked on the show that it seems they may have had it done or partially done and then canned it because the toy line was doing terribly and because the movies were going a different direction and they wanted a synchronicity of brand. Ive always read bits here and there that the dics sales did really well which is why they even considered bringing it back. Either way I havent read anything about it recently but once I see something I will surely post it.
