Yeah, I had similar things happen. I even tried the acrylics from them, but found out they aren't water based and you had to have a special thinner for it....that was a suprise. It also didn't play well with the water based acrylics I was using.
Has anyone had any any luck stripping dwn pain from figures to fix the problem of tacky paint? I'd love to save the figures I has issues with.

I know some folks have had luck dipping the figure into rubbing alcohol, but Im not sure to what degree that actually helps cuz Ive never tried it myself. I only use resin parts when making customs because of this very problem though. I thought it made more sense just to make the parts myself and not have to deal with the sketchy plastics Mattel used on the JLU line and also trying to find fodder is just a pain in the ass so for me getting into casting was a simple decision to make.
I remember Using testors enamel for my first custom. Worst stuff ever. Not only is it messy but it skinks. Tester do (or did) make model acrylics. I picked some up at michael's a few years back. The best paint I ever used has to be tamiya acrylics. Very clean stuff and dries nice and thin but it seems to be hard to find out in stores.
I had very poor luck with tamiya. I found that even when they dried, when you started going over them again they would pull up off the figure and start clumping up with the wet paint and I got sick of that real fast. Granted there are always variables involved like temp and humidity and such so it could just be where I am located, but I just didnt like the paints at all from my experience. I love the model masters acrylic paints from testor though. Never had any issues with them at all so Ive stuck with them.
The model masters acrylic paints. Those are the ones I use to get but I couldn't find them anymore so that's why I moved on to other paints.
A quick look at my current WIP, Thomas Wayne Batman from Flashpoint. He's a Young Justice Vandal Savage with a sized down cloak from some batman figure I got at a flea market.
lookin good man. I love the rugged and burly look he has.
Thanks, I'm pretty please with how he's coming along. The cap will be the tough part to finish. I had originally cut it to use with a YJ Batman but didn't think the frame was heavy enough for Thomas Wayne.
Finished Thomas Wayne Batman! The cape turned out better then I'd hoped considering that I cut it up to fit. Loctite vinyl, fabric & plastic flexible adhesive was perfect for it. Highly recommended. I also made his flask as a removable nod to the source.
Those look fantastic! Is Wally's emblem painted on??
Yes, it's painted on. I have yet to find a good way to replicate logos to scale without losing their detail. I'd love to be able to replicate their eyes, those are such a b*tch to paint!
