Thanx for the kind words for me & the compliments on my work. I am kind of worried about starting a complicated custom without any of the work being previously done. Kind of worried that it won't be up to par with the stuff I made in the past. We'll see though.
Tygrus is simply a JLU Martian Manhunter body with all the details removed. Sculpted hands, feet, head, main & other minor work. I drilled a hole in his butt & inserted a trimmed down Blue Devil tail. Yes the tail is articulated.
Dr Emile Dorian is a JLU Elongated man. The legs were removed & I replaced them with Gentleman Ghost's. Then I sculpted the coat completely, including the sleeves. The head is still Elongated man's with his hair shaved off & new hair sculpted. I also did some minor changes to the face, nose, & chin to make it look more like Emile & less like Elongated man.
Nice! All that work differentiating him from Elongated Man really paid off, because I wasn't quite sure if you had gone that route or not.
Definitely keep doing what you enjoy. Even if you have to eventually learn different or slower ways of making a custom come together, it's an inherently creative process. I think a lot of the fun is finding weird solutions to making that character come alive, and who says you have to worry about complex customs at the moment anyway? Pick some simple but clever projects to keep you busy for a while. Sometimes a head swap and a fresh coat of paint can really impress.
take your time, its no marathon. just do what you feel comfortable with. sorry to hear about your misfortune. and from the looks of it, youre gonna do fine. it just takes time. your custom work always looks great and i'm sure you'll bounce back and surprise us with more great stuff. just take care of yourself first.
Thanx Stew for the kind words. I'm kind of a push myself to do things I can't kind of person. I've already decided I'm getting back on the bike when it gets warm. I should have my sculpting ability back before that. I have about 2 months.
Man I'm so sorry for what you've been through, but it is also great to see you overcoming this and moving forward. Take your time with everything, I'm sure things will turn out OK.
And regarding your customs, those are awesome! Dr. Dorian and Tygrus are for sure my favourites!
Thanx guys! I feel as long as I keep my head up about it all, I'm not going to let this roadblock stop me from doing what I enjoy. It's kind of odd how I took making these customs for granted. Like I did it with ease. But now it's not coming that easy anymore. I will appreciate my gift of talent so much more when I get it back 100%
Take your time, it does come easy to some and others work very hard but in your case you can only get better. by relearning the basics you will improve on your skills and be able to create better customs.

I know all too well what you are going through right now. It gets frustrating, but give it time. I think your artwork still looks fantastic and in time will be better than ever.
If you ever want to talk about it and blow off some steam, just PM me. I know after my hands went and I couldn't even sign my name, I wished I had someone to use as a bouncing board just to let it out and move on.

I really like this last batch of customs. The kits are painted extremely well, Roxy's goggles are awesome, and both Doctor Dorian and Tygrus are some of your best customs yet. If you put as much heart into your next customs as you did these ones, they'll be amazing.
Thanx for the compliments & kind words. My talent may have faded a bit because of the injuries. But I still have a lot of heart for this. So I guess that will make up for it
Can't believe I never replied here. Maybe I told you in PM. Anyway, love the Tygrus & Emile Dorian. Just really fantastic stuff.
I have to say I'm disappointed though. Where's Garth?
Way to raise the bar....lol Garth & The morphed cat Catwoman were actually next. Just want to get more practice in using tools instead of my fingers before I attempt them.
So here's an update on my situation. The MRI shows that my spinal cord is being crushed by jacked up discs & bones. There's basically 3 options I have & they all suck IMO.
Surgery, where they remove 3 discs, fuse the bones together & take out one of my spinal column bones, put a titanium casing around it & put it back in. Sounds ridiculous to me & the surgeon can't even tell me how much better it will make me feel. I asked if it will make me feel 10% or 90% better? He had no answer for me because everyone is different. Seems like the risk may not be worth the reward.
Then there's this shot that goes into your spine. Temporary fix & I'll have to go every few months. It's not going to fix anything, just maybe help with the pain.
My spine specialist said if I'm unsure about the surgery or shot don't do anything. I shouldn't do anything I'm unsure of. So just live my life for now & deal with the lost feeling & pain. He said with time it will get worse & I'll need the surgery, but I can't do anything to damage it more short of landing on my head or something. So that's pretty much what I'm doing now. Living life & dealing with this everyday. I'm back out on my BMX bike. Not hitting the ramps, just riding. I don't think the lost feeling in my fingers will help me in holding onto handlebars. I drop stuff all the time because I think I'm holding it & I'm actually really not.
Life sucks sometimes, but a true champion overcomes things like this.
